Ben Keeps Right On

Keep fighting and Keep Right On Ben!

Twelve months ago young Bluenose Ben Collins was given months to live after being diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, Ewing sarcoma.

Fast forward to February 2019 and Ben is remarkably defying the odds and living life to the full. In recognition of World Cancer Day (4 February), Ben and his family were invited to back to St. Andrew’s to enjoy a day of hospitality at the Nottingham Forest match on Saturday.

As part of Ben’s special day, he was greeted by Michael Morrison and Connal Trueman. The Blues duo presented him with signed gifts and gave plenty of encouragement to the budding goalkeeper. A year ago, Ben met Michael when he was a mascot and it was certainly a happy reunion for the duo. The 2-0 victory certainly helped Ben have a fantastic day.

“We didn’t actually envision being back at a game with Ben,” said Rebbekah, Ben’s mum.

“When Ben was a mascot last year we had a massive amount of messages from fans and I just want to say thank you to everyone.

“At the end of every message was keep right on and Ben has kept right on.”

Ben faces surgery next month to remove the remaining cancerous tumours.
