The striker, 18, who recently left Swansea City’s Academy, has penned a one-year contract, plus a one-year option.
Reid turned out for Blues Under-18s as a trialist in the final league game of last season, when he scored twice in a 4-2 home success against Bolton Wanderers.
And Reid clocked on at the Trillion Trophy Training Centre, Wast Hills, when Blues reported back for pre-season training last month and continued to impress.
Reid, who is able to play anywhere across the frontline, began his career as a young trainee at Manchester United, before moving to Swansea in July 2017, and where he spent two years.
Kristjaan Speakman, Blues Academy Manager, said: “Jayden joined us for the final week of last season with our Under-18 squad and performed well. We invited him back with a view to making a final assessment and a contract offer.
“He a forward player best suited to central areas and has demonstrated good ability in and around the box.
"He joins our Under-23 group and has a great opportunity here to play games and learn under the guidance of Xavi Calm, Steve Spooner and Scott Bevan. “
Reid is the younger brother of Swindon Town right-back Tyler Reid.
