Che Adams in the running for top award

Birmingham City’s Che Adams has enjoyed somewhat of a breakthrough year.

EFL

Che Adams is one of just three players to be nominated for the prestigious 2018/19 Sky Bet Championship Player of the Season Award.

The shortlist has been revealed ahead of the 2019 EFL Awards, which will take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London on Sunday 7 April

The Blues striker has been selected alongside Norwich City's Teemu Pukki and Billy Sharp of Sheffield United.

Adams has been in the best form of his career during this campaign and already has 21 goals to his name, with eight games of the season remaining.

Canaries frontman Pukki has racked up 23 goals, and the Blades' Sharp, 22.

Explaining their decision to include 22-year-old Adams amongst the nominations, an EFL statement read "Birmingham City’s Che Adams has enjoyed somewhat of a breakthrough year – despite impressing in spells in previous seasons, the forward has added consistency to his undoubted talent,"

Awards will be given out across 13 categories at next month's event, with players, managers, clubs and legends of the game set to be honoured and recognised for their achievements.

All 72 EFL managers were invited to vote for their players of the season, with votes also compiled for the Championship, League One and League Two Teams of the Season (full details below). Adams, Pukki and Sharp were all included in the Football Manager Team of the Season for the Sky Bet Championship. The overall EFL Team of the Season will be announced on the night of the Awards.

Other awards to be announced on the night include the AmazeRealise Family Club of the Year, Checkatrade Community Club of the Year, LFE Apprentice of the Year, YouGov Sport Supporter of the Year, PFA Player in the Community and the Community Education Football Alliance (CEFA) Players of the Season.

The Sir Tom Finney Award and Contribution to League Football award, alongside the inaugural Screwfix Moment of the Season, will be announced on the night, whilst the 2018 Hawk-Eye Goal of the Year will be voted for by those in attendance on the night.
