Blues defender Josh Dacres-Cogley has penned a new deal, which will see his existing contract with the Club extended until 2021.

His existing agreement was due to expire in the summer of 2020. A year's option has also been added to the fresh terms.

Dacres-Cogley, 23, will immediately join League Two side Crawley Town on a season long loan.

Crawley are managed by Gabriele Cioffi who was part of Gianfranco Zola's backroom staff during his short spell as Blues boss.

Dacres-Cogley is a versatile defender, who plays predominantly at right-back.

Possessing an abundance of pace and stamina, he is widely regarded as one of the best athletes in the squad.

Born in Coventry, he has been with the Club's Academy since 2011.

He made his First Team bow in the EFL Cup against Oxford United in August 2016 and has subsequently gone on to make 24 appearances.

Last season saw him behind the experienced Maxime Colin and Wes Harding in the pecking order, and he subsequently made just two appearances for the First Team, with 10 for the Club's Under-23s side.
