The lockdown imposed during the Covid-19 crisis has created a feeling of loneliness and isolation for many, especially the elderly who have been recommended to take particular care.
For some, the lockdown has meant they have been unable to see their families or friends in over two months.
Starting next week, in a bid to help older fans reconnect with other like-minded fans and improve their mental health and wellbeing, the Community Trust is hosting a series of virtual coffee mornings to bring people back together.
The aim of the monthly meetups is to provide supporters with much-needed relief by offering a place to check-in and meet other fans over a cup of tea or coffee from within the comfort of their own homes.
Older fans are invited to join the conversation and share their memories of the Club from years gone by, whether that be the players, the ground, the games, or the fans. Each session will have a different theme to encourage older fans to share their stories.
The meetups, held on Zoom, will also include information on how to best cope and manage in isolation, including resources from Age UK, Dementia Awareness, and the Alzheimer’s Society.
The first session starts on Wednesday 27 May at 11am. The theme of this session is 'your first game' with the opportunity to reminisce on memories of the first Blues game you saw including; first goal, atmosphere, who you went with, the stadium, the scoreline, and the players.
