The trip to South Wales is the third on the road this month for Aitor Karanka’s men, with the two previous delivering wins at Bristol City and Reading.
Clarke-Salter - who was sidelined at the start of the season through injury - is in his second loan spell with Blues, having recorded 23 appearances during the 2019/20 campaign.
And the man on loan from Chelsea is keen to make his mark in a team that is only looking upwards. With three starts under his belt this time around, the 12-time England Under-21 international is ready to fight for his place.
He explained: “Healthy competition is always good – it shows you are a good team. Everywhere on the pitch, there is competition for places, but that can only be a good thing for this team.”
Continuing in his conversation with the media before travelling to the Welsh capital, the 23-year-old was a picture of concentration as he outlined what it will take to not only beat Cardiff but to climb the table in the coming weeks.
He said: “We are focused on ourselves and hopefully we can get a good result at Cardiff.
“We have a good team; we have a good group. We just need to keep that performance level high and team spirit up – who knows what we can achieve this season. We are looking forward to the next game.
“Everything is bang on; the training is bang on. The players are working really hard. I think that comes from the Head Coach down and everyone is really enjoying it. Long may it continue!”
The Bluebirds will also be looking to bounce back from a weekend defeat when the two sides face off at 7pm tonight. Therefore, with both teams having a point to prove from their last outings, Clarke-Salter knows that achieving a positive result will require the efforts of everyone.
He told the press: “We’ve got some very good ball players, but those players also show they can do the other side to the game which is very important. It shows a good togetherness in the team, everyone buying into the same plans, so it is very exciting times.
“Hopefully, we can keep continue to play nice football but also win matches which is the main thing.”
